Dr. Amy Getty
Associate Professor of English

Dr. Getty received her PhD from Marquette University and has been teaching at Grand View for five years. She is a professor in the Logos honors program and teaches New Student Seminar, First Year Composition, Introduction to Literature, Children’s and Adolescent Literature, Shakespeare, Film as Literature, and Women’s Literature.

“I believe in the power of education to transform lives,” is what Dr. Getty has to say of her teaching philosophy. Dr. Getty is always available for students to ask questions and gain understanding of the classroom material.

She lives in Des Moines with her husband and two cats. She spends her free time reading and is a major movie enthusiast.
